Together Films have acquired international sales rights to Future Council, a new documentary directed by Damon Gameau (2040, That Sugar Film). The film, produced by Regen Studios, follows eight 8 passionate environmental advocates as they embark on a transformative road trip across Europe to meet with influential political and corporate leaders, pushing for urgent ecological change.
Future Council captures the power of youth in shaping the future of the planet. The film focuses on a group of children who form a ‘Future Council’ to challenge companies and leaders on their environmental policies and practices. The documentary blends education, activism, and hope, offering a solution-oriented approach to the global climate crisis.
The acquisition deal was led by Together Films Head of Sales & Acquisitions Jess Reilly with Producer Anna Kaplan (Regen Studios).
Through the storytelling of Gameau, known for his previous work in raising awareness about climate change and sustainability, Future Council presents an optimistic vision for the future while holding companies like Nestlé, Decathlon, and ING accountable for their impact on the environment. The film recently screened at the United National General Assembly, and had its World Premiere at Melbourne International Film Festival and has since won acclaim at other Australian film festivals including SXSW Sydney.
The film team have plans for an ambitious impact campaign by making the Future Council a global movement empowering children aged 9-16 to work alongside businesses, institutions, and schools to accelerate sustainability efforts and address eco-anxiety. The movement offers a platform where children can connect through a centralized platform that facilitates monthly meet-ups with sustainability experts, access the ‘Earth Oracle’—an AI database of ecological solutions—and collaborate with businesses on impactful projects. Through the Future Council Fund, young members vote to allocate revenue from subscriptions, donations, and consultancy towards global nature regeneration initiatives.

Future Council, produced by Regen Studios, is directed by Damon Gameau and written by Gameau and Jimmi James Wright. The film is produced by Quintin Baker, Anna Kaplan, and Damon Gameau. It is supported by Impact Campaign Funding Partners, including Shark Island Foundation, Alberts/The Tony Foundation, APS Bloom Funding Circle, and LEEAF.
Madman Entertainment Australian and New Zealand theatrical distribution strategy spans the second half of 2025, based on campaigns for Gameau’s previous films, 2040 and That Sugar Film which are placed in the all-time Top 10 Australian Feature Documentaries at the Box Office.
Director Damon Gameau said, “”With almost 60% of our children experiencing eco-anxiety, Future Council aims to give them a voice, and a pathway to help shape and design the future they want. “
Future Council is a timely film that continues Together Films’ commitment to acquiring socially conscious films with a global impact. 2040, Damon Gameau’s previous film, continues to be a popular title for Together Films’ non-theatrical screening hosts six years after its initial release date.
Sarah Mosses, Founder and CEO of Together Films, said, “Damon Gameau’s filmmaking has always been at the intersection of hope and action, and this film is no different. It’s a powerful tool for sparking conversation, educating viewers, and inspiring change in both young and old alike. We are excited to continue our collaboration with this impactful team, having coordinated over 1000 screenings of their previous film, 2040.”
