Together Films is thrilled to announce the launch of Climate Action Together, a new Impact Distribution Campaign Fund & Accelerator designed to amplify powerful films addressing the climate crisis. In its inaugural year, Climate Action Together will support two film teams whose works are set to reach public audiences through various platforms—Festival, Theatrical, Non-Theatrical, Digital, or Broadcast—between January 1 and June 30, 2025 with a £20,000 ($25,000) cash grant alongside strategy, and mentorship support.
Climate Action Together seeks applications from filmmakers committed to raising awareness about the climate crisis and advocating for actionable solutions. This initiative targets completed feature projects (of 70mins+ length) aimed at inspiring public action and driving policy change in the UK and/or the US. Your project may currently be in post-production, if you are confident it will be completed for public viewing by 1st Jan 2025.
“Solving the climate crisis requires a collaborative effort across industries and stakeholders. We are looking for projects that not only highlight the severity of the situation but also shine a light on innovative solutions and stories of hope. We want to see characters delivering fresh, actionable ideas and solutions that haven’t been seen on screen before. Our goal is to engage audiences in new and impactful ways.” – Sarah Mosses, Founder & CEO of Together Films.
Climate Action Together is open to both documentary and scripted projects. The fund aims to discover and support narratives that provide a unique perspective on climate action, moving beyond the common doom-and-gloom narrative to offer stories of optimism and direct action.
The fund provides campaign seed funding of £20,000 ($25,000) per film team. Together Films will also offer an in-depth 4 month strategy phase (to clarify impact objectives, strategy partnerships and amplify opportunities with additional funders), followed by mentorship as the film launches with audiences.
The fund launch is partly in reaction to the growing need for filmmakers to access additional capital to support distribution costs, especially where it relates to impactful audiences. The team can use the allocated grants to cover hard costs such as DCPs or Advertising or contribute towards their staff time working on the release and attending or organising impact screening events. Applications are welcome from Producers with or without sales/distribution representation and can be applied to traditional or non-traditional/creative/hybrid release strategies.
As an accelerator fund, Together Films will provide practical guidance and strategy support for both campaigns, in addition to the non-recoupable cash grant. The value of the support provided by their team is worth an additional £25,000 ($32,000) per campaign.
The deadline for submissions is 5pm ET, Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
