On July 8th, in Washington D.C., attendees of the 2024 National Conference on Ending Homelessness concluded their first day by gathering to watch BEYOND THE BRIDGE, at the 6th stop of the film’s national tour.
Following an introduction from Aimee Hendrigan, Executive Vice-President of Melville Charitable Trust, the film was screened for service providers, system leaders, advocates, and people with lived experience of homelessness from around the country. Audience members stayed with us after for a Q&A with filmmakers Don Sawyer and Tim Hashko, where many expressed being moved and inspired by finally seeing on screen both the problems that they have been tackling, but also the solutions they have been hoping for in their own communities.
For many attendees, we heard that this was their first opportunity to see a film that they had been hearing about from colleagues around the country, where BEYOND THE BRIDGE has already traveled. Others left excited to share the opportunity for their local community members to see the film at future screenings, in Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Boston, and more.
Next up, BEYOND THE BRIDGE will head to Milwaukee on Thursday, August 1st, and Indianapolis on Tuesday, August 20th.
