"On the matter of energy and energy security, we have arrived at a pivot point. Do we step forward or do we go back...We must act before people give up and come to believe that war, injustice, and a catastrophic future for our children are inevitable."

In the UK, higher energy prices are poised to push an estimated 2 million additional households into fuel poverty, taking the total to 6 million, the highest level of fuel poverty in more than 25 years. What’s happening in Britain is playing out across the continent and there’s growing acknowledgement that it didn’t have to be this way.
While some European governments look to offer policy and financial support packages to consumers to get them through the winter of discontent, it’s time to look to long term solutions; to move the power away from big fossil fuel companies and back into the hands of the people. Patagonia’s We the Power is a FREE resource that explores the power of community-owned energy in helping us to build a new, green economic system that works for everyone. Community energy offers affordable, clean energy for all. It puts needed money back into communities rather than the hands of fossil fuel companies. Yet, across Europe, community energy is being blocked by unfair legislative barriers and disproportionate costs
Screen We the Power today and explore our toolkits for action in your community. Together, we can imagine a new energy system that works for everyone and bring the benefits of renewable energy home.

Imagine upending the traditional energy system and giving the power of clean electricity production back to your neighbors. We the Power follows friends, families and visionaries as they break down legislative barriers and take power back from big energy companies to put in the hands of locals. The film chronicles local cooperatives from deep in Germany’s Black Forest to the streets of ancient Girona in Spain and the urban rooftops of London, England, as they pave the way for a renewable-energy revolution and build healthier, more financially stable communities.

The We The Power Campaign is an initiative of Patagonia. You can find out more information about the campaign here.
