"On the matter of energy and energy security, we have arrived at a pivot point. Do we step forward or do we go back...We must act before people give up and come to believe that war, injustice, and a catastrophic future for our children are inevitable. "

In the UK, higher energy prices are poised to push an estimated 2 million additional households into fuel poverty, taking the total to 6 million, the highest level of fuel poverty in more than 25 years. What’s happening in Britain is playing out across the continent and there’s growing acknowledgment that it didn’t have to be this way.
With those under 30 set to pay the highest price for the cost of living crisis, it’s time to look to long term solutions; to move power away from big fossil fuel companies and fight for a better, more sustainable future for everyone.
Patagonia’s We the Power is a FREE resource that explores the power of community-owned energy and looks at how we can all take action to imagine a new energy system. While young people across the continent face overwhelming challenges, this is a perfect resource for schools and universities to promote inspirational discussion about the action we can all take in our communities today.
Together, we can imagine a new energy system and bring the benefits of renewable energy home.

Imagine upending the traditional energy system and giving the power of clean electricity production back to your neighbors. We the Power follows friends, families and visionaries as they break down legislative barriers and take power back from big energy companies to put in the hands of locals. The film chronicles local cooperatives from deep in Germany’s Black Forest to the streets of ancient Girona in Spain and the urban rooftops of London, England, as they pave the way for a renewable-energy revolution and build healthier, more financially stable communities.

The We The Power Campaign is an initiative of Patagonia. You can find out more information about the campaign here.
