FOR SAMA is an intimate epic journey into the female experience of war. A love letter from a young mother to her daughter, the film tells the story of Waad al-Kateab’s life through five years of the uprising in Aleppo, Syria as she falls in love, gets married and gives birth to Sama, all while cataclysmic conflict rages around her.
Together Films supported directors Waad al-Kateab & Edward Watts to expand the ‘filmmakers’ campaign Action For Sama alongside the release of the BAFTA-winning & Oscar-nominated feature documentary For Sama.
The campaign was conceived by the film team and launched at Cannes with their #StopBombingHospitals activation.
Together Films supported by:
- Guiding the Channel 4 parliamentary screening, developing a call to action for policy makers, and accompanying the film team in a ministerial briefing.
- Helping to convene the Action For Sama Advisory Board (featuring Help Refugees, Syria Campaign, Physicians For Human Rights, Amnesty International & Crisis Action).
- Launching the Action For Sama social media channels
- Launching the Action For Sama website
- Supporting press & Q&A bookings for the team
- Supporting the drive for public donations which generated over £50,000 in support over 3 months to be deployed by Help Refugees to support initiatives on the ground in Syria.
- Raised 3rd party funding from the Perspective Fund to cover some of the 2020 campaign costs, including the provision for 2 human rights freelancers we had engaged to continue to support the campaign long-term.
