The Grierson Trust Awards nominations have just been announced, and we’re thrilled that two of our titles have made the shortlist!
MEDIHA, directed by Hasan Oswald, and ZURAWSKI V TEXAS, directed by Maisie Crow and Abbie Perrault, have both been recognised this year alongside a number of other compelling films. Read on to find out more about these powerful stories.
MEDIHA
MEDIHA has been nominated for Best Cinema Documentary.
After surviving ISIS captivity, Mediha films her search for her missing family, her fight for justice, and her slow, fierce healing. Her video diaries are raw, intimate, and devastating—a reminder that refuge is not just a place, but the right to reclaim one’s own story.
Directed by Hasan Oswald and executive produced by Emma Thompson, this award-winning documentary is a portrait of resilience that refuses to look away.
ZURAWSKI V TEXAS
ZURAWSKI V TEXAS has been nominated for Best Crime and Justice Documentary.
Directed by Maisie Crow and Abbie Perrault, the film follows a group of women denied abortions—even at the brink of death—who band together with a fearless attorney to sue the state of Texas in an extraordinary effort to regain their rights and reproductive futures, not only for themselves but for millions of others.
The critically acclaimed film boasts a powerful lineup of women behind the scenes, with executive producers Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and Jennifer Lawrence leading the charge. Brought to life by HiddenLight Productions, Story Force Entertainment, and Out of Nowhere—alongside powerhouse partners Excellent Cadaver and Bumble Inc.
A huge congratulations to all of the nominees!
As their international sales agent, Together Films is delighted to support MEDIHA and ZURAWSKI V TEXAS as they continue to gain recognition.
