We are proud to announce the selection of two documentary projects for the inaugural Climate Action Together Fund: UNEARTH and POWER STATION. Both films highlight innovative approaches to tackling the climate crisis and driving meaningful change.
Climate Action Together is a new Impact Distribution Campaign Fund & Accelerator from Together Films designed to support independent filmmakers who have ambitions to raise awareness of solutions to the climate crisis. Our two film teams will each receive a £20k grant, 4 months of strategy development and monthly mentorship from our Founder & CEO Sarah Mosses.
POWER STATION, directed by Dan Edelstyn and Hilary Powell, follows a community’s mission to transform their London street into a solar-powered hub, bringing clean energy to local schools and homes. Inspired by Ann Pettifor’s The Case for the Green New Deal, the film showcases grassroots activism in reshaping energy systems, with Impact Producer Leonie Rousham supporting the project.
UNEARTH was directed by John Hunter Nolan, Co-Directed by Auberin and Dunedin Strickland and produced by John Hunter Nolan, Auberin and Dunedin Strickland, Gina Papabeis and Eyal Levy. The film tells the story of Native Alaskan activists and commercial salmon fishermen fighting to protect Bristol Bay from North America’s largest proposed copper mine. It explores the tension between sustainable resource extraction and environmental preservation, offering a powerful narrative of resistance and hope.
Sarah Mosses, CEO of Together Films, shared her excitement about the selected projects from their debut fund:
“We are proud to back two powerful projects that are reshaping the conversation around climate, sustainability, and community-led energy initiatives. These films highlight unique, solution-driven approaches to creating change, steering away from the typical doom and gloom narratives. By amplifying these powerful stories, we hope to inspire communities to take action and challenge the status quo. It has been our goal to launch a fund for a long time, and at our 10th anniversary, it feels great to be able to offer further resources to the field.”
John Hunter Nolan, Director of Unearth, which is premiering at DOC NYC this month, said:
“Partnering with Together Films on the Climate Action Together Fund has been uniquely valuable to our film and its goals at a critical juncture in our transition from production to campaign. The opportunity to work with an organization that has the experience and wisdom to act in both a leading and supporting role simultaneously is unlike any partnership I’ve experienced in the past. It’s the truest essence of collaboration and Together is exactly what it says it is; a united and thoughtful approach to bringing strong voices to the table to turn a good story into a great campaign.”
Gina Papabeis, Producer of Unearth
“After years of intense focus on the creative production of UNEARTH, receiving support from Together Films to build a solid foundation for our impact campaign is vital to our project’s success. We’re grateful that Climate Action Together has selected our film, and that they recognize the unique needs of filmmakers at this juncture. In addition to a financial grant, the entire team’s strategic guidance, hands-on collaboration, and moral support are invaluable.”
Dan Edelstyn, Director of Power Station, to be released in 2025, said:
“Working with Together Films is a real honour, and we have bowled over by their professionalism, experience, and knowledge. We’ve learned so much, and as a result, we are confident that the impact distribution of our film will be massively boosted. It’s like we’ve added rocket boosters to the story and we’re really excited to launch it into the world!”
